Linework Quilt Tester Parade

Making Linework definitely pushed my out of my comfort zone. It’s not only my first black and white quilt, but also my first foray into contrast quilting. My testers, however, make being adventurous look easy! Their quilts not only showcase the choose-your-own-adventure element of this pattern, but also how amazing Linework can look in an endless variety of colours and finishes! Don’t forget to check them out on Instagram and give them some love.

JEANNE @jeanne.garcia

Immediately going into full choose-you-own-adventure mode, Jeanne’s custom rainbow has me seriously considering making a dark rainbow version for myself! I absolutely love the slow gradient shifting through the warmer to cooler tones - utterly stunning.

TINA @milmiria

Tina picked her fabrics to match her newly decorated house and how perfectly do these say ‘beach chic’? Such a calming colour scheme, and I love her use of the same print across all four colours for perfect understated co-ordination. The wavy quilting lines are the perfect finishing touch on this beach ready cushion!

Cait's Linework Quilt is a fun FPP pattern with endless possibilities to make it your own. It's an easy to follow pattern with clear instructions for 5 different blocks and it looks great in only 2 colours but also in a scrappy version or multi-colour way - Tina

SIERRA @madebeayoutifulstudios

I have been lusting over this adorable strawberry print ever since I first saw it so you can imagine my excitement when Sierra shared her fabric pull! Those little strawberries and moths peek out perfectly along the lines of this baby size quilt, and I love that Sierra had a play around with different shapes and layouts before settling on the final one - I’d never even though about creating a heart shape from the blocks!

A clear, concise FPP pattern designed with the modern quilter in mind! This is a design your own adventure type quilt with endless aesthetic possibilities! Perfect for the beginner FPP-er! - Sierra

AARTI @osbornesews

This scrappy but coordinated rainbow of solids and blenders by Aarti is just fantastic. I really like how they’ve picked a colour for each block and stuck within that for both strip colours, then moved on and picked another for each other block. No two blocks look the same yet it feels perfectly planned. I’m looking forward to seeing this quilted!

The Linework quilt is a great building block pattern for creating any design you can dream up. With stripes and HST paper pieced blocks the pattern options are endless. And adding to the design choices, the pattern works great two toned or scrappy. As usual Cait's patterns are clear and come together quickly - Aarti

GEMMA @gemmacassells

A newbie to FPP, Gemma has knocked it out of the park. Beautifully matched lines and points (one of the many reasons I love FPP so much!) and a fun statement corner - stunning.

I love the choose your own adventure nature of the Linework quilt pattern. It’s a great way to get comfortable with foundation paper piecing (don’t run away! I’m a total novice and still managed it!). You can play with colour and make it as coordinated or scrappy as you like. The pattern is detailed and well illustrated, and has lots of options for layouts and sizes - Gemma

AUDREY @goiahawks

Another dark rainbow from Audrey and wow do these vibrant fabrics pack a punch in this wall hanging version! I absolutely adore the black and white binding she’s used too, it makes me think of a QR code and just looks so cool. Beautiful!

Great pattern, including cutting instructions for FPP which not everyone includes. It’s a fun “choose your own adventure,” versatile pattern.  Follow it faithfully or go off the beaten path with it, it’s all good! - Audrey

JESSIE @jroussel.creations

Monochrome with a twist from Jessie - this graffiti fabric pairs brilliantly with this design to mix and match and give some great depth of visual interest. I love the layout they’ve chosen too, that zig-zag middle is so fun, especially with the spiral quilting design!

This pattern is great for beginner and experienced Foundation Paper Piecers alike! The choose your own design aspect lets the maker decide how many of each block they want to use, and as such a less experienced sewer can opt to only do one or two of the "more complicated" blocks while gaining more practice on the simpler ones at the same time. The blocks worked up quite quickly and the cutting instructions were clear, making quick work of one of the longer steps in the quilt top making process. The size options are nice and varied, and the finished quilt can be made exponentially larger simply by making more blocks, or by printing the templates out at a larger size. All in all, I had a great time making up my pillow sized project and look forward to trying one of the larger sizes in the future - Jessie

KAREN @praguequilters

Karen’s quilt is feeling a little bit Inception with her fabric choice - a quilt within a quilt! I have this exact same fabric tucked away in my stash not knowing how I should use it and now I’m feeling inspired to finally let it shine. Karen’s polka dot triangle blocks add an extra layer of interest to their layout and I love that she’s gone a little rogue with her pillow cover - exactly what I love about a choose your own adventure pattern, everyone ends up somewhere different!

Linework is a great starter FPP pattern and delivers the versatility that most patterns do not offer. The five cleverly designed blocks means you can mix and match the blocks to create a custom sized project. Have an odd shaped cushion that you need a custom cover for or a small wall space that needs a quilty project then this is your go to pattern. Ideal for using strip scraps from your latest project to make a complimentary gift - Karen

And there you have it - what fantastic testers and quilts!
