Welcome to the Symphony
Inspired by bright summer colours working in harmony, the Symphony Quilt is a fresh take on the traditional quarter log cabin block and is suitable for confident beginners.
Available now as a digital download and as a printed paper pattern, the Symphony Quilt includes instructions for baby (36” x 48”), throw (60” x 72”) and double (84” x 96”) sized quilts, and is fat quarter friendly.

As with all of my patterns, Symphony started life with me playing around with shapes and colours until I settled on a design that just screamed “make me!”. Naturally I had some help during the design process, with my kitten Lyra giving her thoughts on fabric choices (aka falling asleep on my samples).
Once I was happy with my pull it was time to get making! This pattern really lends itself to chain piecing, and it was super satisfying to watch my pile of blocks grow quickly into a gorgeous rainbow.
After I finished assembling the top, the kittens decided there needed to be another quality check before I could move on. Aurora gave her approval, and off I went with my walking foot. I marked this quilt up with a heat vanishing pen to help keep me sewing on the right track for my double orange peel design. Although simple, I really like how this design complements the quilt pattern and makes the blocks shine.
I always finish my quilts with hand sewn binding, and this one was actually finished on a train to Edinburgh for a long weekend away! (Quilts are necessary packing in my opinion).
Once the binding was finished, the kittens made their claim! They love curling up on this one, and it makes for an excellent play mat when laid out on the floor. Whenever I can wrestle it from them, it also makes for an excellent lap quilt when watching TV or doing some embroidery!
