Orange Blossoms Tester Parade

Every quilt designer knows they would be nothing without their testers, and I had another great bunch for the Orange Blossoms Quilt! They all absolutely knocked it out of the park with their colour and fabric choices and their feedback and advice really has helped make the pattern the very best it could be.

Don’t forget to check them out on Instagram and give them some love!

Cara Burnham @pink_stitches

I absolutely love Cara’s colour scheme and fabric pull! When I was designing the Orange Blossoms pattern, this is pretty much exactly what I was imagining. As well as making the quilt top, Cara also made the bonus cushion included in the pattern and she did a great job quilting it. I can’t wait to see what she does on the full quilt!

“The Orange Blossoms quilt pattern is a fun, modern design resulting in a stunning double size quilt. The pattern is fat quarter friendly with clear, easy to follow instructions at every step. This is a great pattern for trying out new skills or if like me improving my skills further. Don't be afraid of curves! Once the construction of the two main blocks are complete the rows come together pretty quickly. What I like about the pattern is the option of using different colourways to create the design and the bonus cushion pattern. Another great pattern by Cait Lisle Designs.” - Cara

Hannah Taylor @stitchnrun

A newcomer to sewing curves, Hannah has definitely got the hang of them! This chic and stylish colour scheme is very on trend and looks absolutely wonderful - I might have to make myself a cushion or two in these colours. The simple grid quilting complements the curved piecing really well and adds to the classic elegance of this make.

“The combination of the drunkards path and orange blossom blocks creates a lovely cascade of flower, circle and curved diamond shapes, which makes me think of falling blossom. The cushion pattern is a great introduction to curved piecing and a good place to start before making the quilt. A couple of cushions to co-ordinate with your quilt would look great too!” - Hannah

Megan Wenger @lifeofmegananne

As a lover of scrappy quilts, I was very excited when I saw Megan’s pull! I hadn’t thought about making Orange Blossoms scrappy before but after seeing her blocks and top coming together I absolutely love the effect! I can’t wait to see the finished top.

“I have loved sewing up the Orange Blossoms Quilt. The design, with its modern take on classic curved blocks, really grabbed my attention. Cait's pattern is well written and filled with so many useful diagrams. The colouring pages were super helpful and just what I needed to work up my scrappy version.” - Megan

Lisa Collins @thequiltdr

As soon as I saw Lisa’s test blocks, I just knew her quilt top was going to be fantastic - how cute are those Ruby Star Society suns? The combination of blenders, florals and suns really pop against the bright blue background and turn it into a bit of a party quilt. I can’t wait to see how Lisa quilt it - I’m sure it will be absolutely fabulous!

“This was my first big project with lots of curves and Cait's pattern was straightforward and easy to read. It broke the project into manageable pieces and kept me from being overwhelmed while feeling like I was making steady progress. If curves are on your bucket list, this is an excellent choice of pattern to tackle them with. The end result is stunning- a gorgeous, modern quilt top with beautiful arcing curves echoed throughout. Whether you are new to curves or not, this pattern's impact is stunning and so worth the investment of the time!” - Lisa

Sara Pattenaude @pattenaude101

Sara turned the bonus cushion into a mini wall-hanging quilt, and it came out so nicely. The sweet ditsy floral works really well with the solids, and Sara’s simple echo quilting is really effective at emphasising the movement in the pattern pieces. Her sweet little quilt holder seems to like it too!

“If you ever wanted to sew Curves or Orange Peel blocks but have been too scared to try, you don't need to be! Cait has got you covered in the Orange Blossom Quilt Pattern. She breaks it down step by step so it is easy to understand and easy to create your masterpiece! Give this awesome, beautiful pattern a try! You will love how it turns out!” - Sara

Kerry Smith @thatssewkerry

All the blues and greens in Kerry’s quilt remind me of sea waves and the colours of rockpools - such a soothing colour palette! The mix of florals and solids work really well together and make for a really impactful quilt top. As a professional longarm quilter, I can’t wait to see what magic Kerry works on her top!

“I was drawn to this pattern because I’ve never actually made anything with so many curves and wanted to challenge myself - Orange Blossoms certainly does that but the fantastic diagrams and step by step instructions make it very easy to tackle” - Kerry

Deanne Tanner @fatfrogquilting

Deanne chose a really fresh and juicy mix of colours for her quilt! I really like the pop of the orange and peach against the greens and blue, it’s such a striking combination and the colours play out beautifully across the pattern.

“This pattern is a fantastic introduction to sewing curves. The instructions are clear and the results are amazing! Everything magically comes together and results in a fun modern take on a traditional favourite. Also, the colouring page is really helpful for strategic planning.” - Deanne

Sarah Mcfarland @sewmuchsarah

Another fantastically scrappy version, I really like the bold prints and mix of pinks and purples in Sarah’s fabric pull and they come together to make a bright and fun top. I’m looking forward to seeing this quilted!

“Cait has created a beautiful, versatile pattern! Endless possibilities based on fabric choices. Her instructions are clear and easy to understand. Afraid to try curves? Don't be! Cait's pattern makes them easy! I couldn't recommend this pattern more, go get yours now.” - Sarah

Zander Johnston @cutstitchpressrepeat

Zander’s fabric pull reminds me of mermaids and fish in the sea! The mix of textures and pattern work really well together with the soft grey background and make for a beautiful quilt top.

“Every time I look at my finished quilt top I notice something different and my eyes are pulled to a new place where the fabrics different colours and patterns meet and compliment each other. With only two blocks the clever use of colour and arrangement of the blocks makes this quilt a complete eye catcher.” - Zander
